Rising Job Vacancies in UK Lead to Ease of Post-Brexit Immigration Rules
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that between August and October, the vacancy total reached 1.172 million, with last month's number at 1.3 million in the UK. However, the unemployment rate has fallen 4.3 percent, likely due to the end of the furlough scheme. While there is good news with the unemployment rate falling, job vacancies and skill shortages continue to rise. Suren Thiru, Head of Economics at the British Chambers of Commerce, said in the article that, “the figures showed more skills should be added to the immigration system's Shortage Occupation List to enable the UK to attract much-needed, overseas talent.”
